Plot
Mario empties attics and cellars. Today he came to Andrea's grandparents' house. The child curiously follows him up and down the stairs.
Thus begins "Beniamino Gigli. A Nightingale's Voice," a grandfather's tale to his grandson, introducing the great tenor from Recanati and the human depth of a man who never forgot his humble origins and his fellow citizens. A unique tenor, whose crystalline voice captivated audiences worldwide like the song of a nightingale wafting across the blue.
This illustrated book, designed especially for the very young but suitable for readers of all ages, flows with lightness and intensity, inviting us to rediscover a great interpreter of bel canto who brought prestige and fame to the people of Recanati, the people of the Marche, and Italians throughout the world.
The pages, along with Gigli's story, intertwine with curiosities, lesser-known aspects of music, and forgotten glimpses of life, such as the old gramophone, also prompting younger readers to reflect on their roots, emigration, and moral values such as generosity and altruism. The bright and poetic illustrations accompany the reader on a serene and engaging journey into the world of music and emotion.
After telling so much, the grandfather took a break…
He continued that long story: “Dear Andrea, I promise we'll continue talking about our tenor when we go together to the museum dedicated to him… Now let's continue following Mario's work, emptying cellars and attics. Who knows, maybe another old object will tell us another story!”
